Creating a Predictive Tool for Treatment Resistant Depression
Funding Need: $89,378
Depression can look different in every patient, but for people living with Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD), there’s one common factor: treatment isn’t working.
In their specialized Mood Disorders Clinic focused on TRD, the Parkwood team has created a new process for diagnosing and treating TRD. By collecting clinical data, grading the severity of the TRD, and defining the contributing factors, they will improve the process of matching patients to the right treatments. This will be a Canadian-first assessment model for TRD.
The new information will be used to create a scoring tool to assess someone’s likelihood of having TRD before treatments have failed, saving the health care system time and money, and helping people get better sooner.
