Comfort, empowerment and healing
Leith became acquainted with St. Joseph’s while attending University. As a residence supervisor, he was responsible for ensuring the well-being of students. On occasion, he accompanied women to St. Joseph’s Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program.
A key partner in a regional network of services for women this program offers help 24 hours a day, seven days a week to women, men and children of all ages. It’s the only centre in the region with the expertise to document injuries and collect forensic evidence.
As a dedicated centre, staff have access to the resources, space and equipment to provide clients with what they need to care for patients. Most important, staff have the time to spend with clients and understand their unique situations.
“I witnessed women who survived the trauma of sexual and physical abuse find comfort, empowerment and healing through the miraculous staff at St. Joseph’s,” says Leith.
After graduation, Leith began thinking about the many ways in which he could further serve his own community.
He chose to make a gift of life insurance in support of the Regional Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Program. “By making a legacy gift, I can give even more and support a program that offers hope to women and children in need,” says Leith. Due to Leith's age, the affordable monthly premiums made this a great way for him to make a significant gift.
