Veterans Care
Respect, Care, Comfort
The Veterans Care Program at St. Joseph's Parkwood Hospital
The Veterans Care Program at St. Joseph’s Parkwood Hospital is a home for Canada’s war Veterans. Here, specialized care is provided in a warm and compassionate environment within a culture that recognizes and understands Veterans’ unique needs and their contributions to our country.
Through innovative programming, Veterans live each day feeling a sense of respect, dignity and belonging while experiencing enriching opportunities in community life.
Supporting the care needs of Veterans is an important focus of the foundation’s work. There are four unique funds that offer support:
Veterans Care Fund
The Veterans Care Fund ensures that Veterans receive the best care possible by supporting a number of projects and purchases, which include music therapy, research in pain management and patient ceiling lifts.
Veterans Arts Fund
The Veterans Arts Fund enhances the popular art therapy program through the purchase of new equipment and supplies so that Veterans have the opportunity to continue their favourite artistic pursuits and even try a few new ones.
Veterans Care and Comfort Fund
Gifts made through the Veterans Care and Comfort Fund support the social, recreational and personal care needs of Veterans so that their experience at Parkwood is as comfortable as it can be.
Veterans Tree of Caring Fund – Season of Celebration
An important element of the annual Season of Celebration campaign, the Veterans Tree of Caring Fund provides support for items such as new pressure-reducing mattresses, high-low beds, televisions, upgrades to dining facilities and therapy gardens.
